Can I train at Roots as a beginner?
Yes. Roots is an inclusive dojo. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced student, we will help you find a comfortable place in the group.
How do I get to Roots Dojo?
Roots is on Denman Island, BC (Sla-dai-aich). Take the Buckley Bay ferry from Vancouver Island to Denman Island. After the 10-minute crossing, turn right on Denman Road; Roots is at 5291 Denman Road.
Where can I stay on Denman Island?
Students use the GuestHouse, Fillongley Park camping, Airbnbs, and local bed and breakfasts. Contact us if you need help planning your visit.
What is the closest airport?
Comox Airport (YQQ) is the closest airport, roughly a 30-minute drive from the Buckley Bay ferry.
What should I know about Denman Island?
Denman is a small island community with beaches, lakes, limited shops, and seasonal fire restrictions. Please travel respectfully and be mindful of local wildlife.
